How to set custom Java path after installing JDK 8

Oracle seems to have changed the way you find the default Java installation as of version 8. (There used to be some java.exe copied into Windows system directory before, now they create Symbolic links to the Java executable in C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath. Where as, this is safer the previous method, this still poses problem, if you work with multiple Java versions like I do. See below blog post for more details.
